With less than five days to the end of the present administration, President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice-President Namadi Sambo, 29 governors as well as the nation's 42 ministers have been given a 30-day deadline by the Code of Conduct Bureau to declare their assets. The country’s 109 senators and 360 members of the House of Representatives are also not left out of the declaration order.
The bureau, had last week, issued the Completed Assets Declaration Forms to both outgoing and incoming public officers with a 30-day deadline to return the completed forms, countdown starting from the the day of the receipt of the forms.
The CCB had last Tuesday reminded political office holders that they must declare their assets on assumption and vacation of office in line with the Nigerian Constitution. So far, only 2 ministers, 7 senators and 40 House of Representatives members in the outgoing 7th National Assembly have submitted their forms. As at Friday, it is unconfirmed whether President Jonathan, Sambo and the governors had submitted their completed forms.
