The film is based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller ‘2 States: The Story of My Marriage’. Though this is not for the first time when we are witnessing any inter-caste love story, director Abhishek Varman has more to offer you in this adaptation.

Story: ‘2 States’ is a romantic tale of a Punjabi boy Krish Malhotra (Arjun Kapoor) from Delhi and a Tamilian girl Ananya Swaminathan (Alia Bhatt) from Chennai. The story begins at IIM-Ahemdabad campus where the North Indian guy falls in love with the cute and bubbly south Indian girl. Things go tough for the love buds when their cultural differences start creating hurdles for them but they take up the challenge with much zeal.

After completing their studies, both Krish and Ananya become well-settled in their respective jobs and finally decide to tie the nuptial knot. But like every inter-caste couple, who opts for eloping on the first occasion, Ananya and Krish decide to approach each other’s family and convince them. How the cultural differences, the likings and the state of minds of the two families clash before accepting each other is how the ‘2 States’ unfolds.

Review:  Those, who have read Chetan Bhagat’s ‘2 States’, may not find much in the movie but the director deserves a big applause for depicting the story in a fresh manner which will keep the audience stick by their seats for sure. Varman has smartly used flash back for narrating the movie which gives it an edge.

Varman has mastered in presenting the mindsets of two different castes and cultures and narrated it beautifully with much ease.

The love buds will definitely relate to the sizzling chemistry between ‘fragile’ Alia and ‘raw’ Arjun. The sensuous shots, lip locks, peppy numbers of Alia-Arjun will keep the audience stick with their seats.

Amrita Singh, Revathi and Ronit Roy are also impressive in their characters.

To bring words alive is a difficult task but Varman has done complete justice to Chetan Bhagat’s novel. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy has done wonderful work. The film track is already topping the music charts.
